Eight people were injured after a Toyota Vellfire MPV they were travelling in skidded and crashed at Kilometre 169 of the East Coast Expressway (LPT), near Felda Bukit Tajau heading towards Chenor on Thursday.
In a broader context, road safety along major highways continues to be a concern, with authorities frequently responding to accidents involving multi-passenger vehicles, especially during peak travel hours.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Mohd Salahuddin Isa said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 12.39pm.
He said seven firefighters from the Maran Fire and Rescue Station, along with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) unit and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team, were deployed to the scene.
Fire crews arrived at 12.50pm and found a Toyota Vellfire had veered off the road.
The vehicle was carrying eight occupants — three men, two women and three boys — all of whom sustained injuries in the crash.
All victims were taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Authorities confirmed that none of the victims were trapped inside the vehicle and all were successfully removed before being transported for medical care.
