Rescue Operation After Car Slams Into Road Barrier In Early Morning Crash

A man sustained injuries to his hands and legs after the sedan he was driving skidded and crashed into a road barrier along Jalan Stephen Yong in Kuching early this morning.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations centre, the incident was reported at about 3.08am, prompting an emergency response to the scene.

A team from the Batu Lintang Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the location about 10 minutes after receiving the distress call.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a 37-year-old male driver trapped inside the vehicle following the impact.

Rescue personnel used special road traffic accident (RTA) equipment to safely extricate the victim from the wreckage.

Authorities said the victim was conscious during the rescue operation but had sustained injuries to his arms and legs.

After being freed, the victim was transported to Sarawak General Hospital (HUS) using an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) ambulance for further treatment.
