A four-year-old boy who died at a water theme park in Sungai Buloh on Sunday is believed to have collapsed shortly after leaving a swimming pool area before later being pronounced dead at hospital.
Sungai Buloh district police chief Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said authorities received a report regarding the incident on the day it occurred.
Preliminary investigations found that the child had reportedly exited the pool area before suddenly collapsing.
“The victim is believed to have fallen unconscious after leaving the pool area and was later found in a weak and unresponsive condition,” Mohd Hafiz said in a statement.
The boy was rushed to Hospital Sungai Buloh for emergency treatment but was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Police said investigations so far have found no signs of criminal elements, although inquiries are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities have urged anyone with information related to the incident to contact investigating officer Inspector Muhamad Zul Irfan Omar or the nearest police station.
Mohd Hafiz also advised the public against spreading unverified information or speculation while investigations remain underway.
The tragic incident quickly gained attention on social media, with several visitors claiming they witnessed the emergency unfold at the water park.
Some users shared photographs showing attempts to provide emergency assistance to the child before an ambulance arrived at the scene.
One Threads user alleged that the boy had suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness, prompting water park staff to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while waiting for emergency responders.
