Firefighters Called After Man Sat In The Rain Beside Highway For 8 Hours

Date:

A team of firefighters successfully persuaded a man believed to be facing personal difficulties to leave the side of a highway after he reportedly spent several hours alone in the rain beside his motorcycle.

The incident, which has since gone viral on social media, took place at around 9am when firefighters from the Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Station were alerted to the man’s presence by the operations control centre.

Senior Fire Officer I Nor Azam Abd Rahman said he and his colleagues were on their way back from another operation when they received information about a man sitting by the roadside along the highway.

Upon arriving at the location, the firefighters found the man standing beside a Yamaha RXZ motorcycle. He was drenched after being exposed to heavy rain for hours.

“We were informed that he had been there since around 1am. We approached him and tried to understand what had happened,” Nor Azam said.

According to him, the man initially remained silent and appeared to be shivering from the cold weather.

“He did not say much at first. He was cold and soaked from the rain. We suspected he might have been dealing with personal problems,” he added.

The firefighters then spent nearly 15 minutes speaking to and comforting the man before he finally agreed to leave the area.

After being persuaded, the man reportedly began gathering his belongings and prepared to head home.

The incident attracted widespread attention online after photos and videos showed firefighters patiently engaging with the rider instead of simply asking him to move along.

Many social media users praised the firefighters for their compassion and understanding, while others expressed sympathy for the man and offered prayers that his difficulties would soon be eased.

The heartwarming encounter has also sparked conversations about the importance of checking in on those who may be struggling silently, as small acts of kindness can sometimes make a significant difference in someone’s life.
