Date:

Two people were killed while seven others sustained injuries, including one in serious condition, following a tragic collision involving three vehicles along the Kuantan–Segamat Road near the Chini Fire and Rescue Station in Pekan on Friday.

The incident, which occurred at about 5.57pm, involved a Toyota Alphard MPV, a Honda Civic and an Isuzu D-Max four-wheel drive vehicle, according to the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Pahang.

JBPM Pahang Operations Assistant Director Mohd Salahuddin Isa confirmed that both the Toyota Alphard driver and the Honda Civic driver died at the scene due to the severity of the crash.

He said two passengers in the Toyota Alphard, aged 15 and 35, including a woman, were injured in the accident.

In the Honda Civic, the front passenger suffered serious injuries, while three other passengers, including an elderly person and a two-year-old girl, also sustained injuries.

The driver of the Isuzu D-Max escaped with only minor injuries, authorities said.

Firefighters from the Chini Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by personnel from Muadzam Shah, were deployed to the scene to conduct rescue operations.

Rescue teams used specialised equipment to extricate victims trapped inside the heavily damaged vehicles before handing over the bodies of the deceased to police for further action.

Authorities have classified the case as a fatal road accident, and investigations are ongoing.
