JIM Arrests 186 Foreign Nationals In Early Morning Ops Kutip At Pudu

A total of 186 illegal immigrants were detained during a large-scale “Ops Kutip” enforcement operation carried out by the Immigration Department (JIM) at a premises in the Pudu area early this morning.

The operation, which began at 12.05am, involved 137 officers and personnel from JIM Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Selangor, the Royal Malaysia Police, Kuala Lumpur City Hall and the National Registration Department.

JIM Kuala Lumpur said 320 foreign nationals were inspected during the raid, with 186 of them arrested for various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63.

Among the offences detected were overstaying under Section 15(1)(c) and failing to possess valid travel documents or identification under Section 6(1)(c) of the same Act.

Bangladeshi nationals recorded the highest number of arrests, with 118 men detained during the operation.

This was followed by Indonesians (28), Myanmar nationals (26), Vietnamese (5), Nepalese (4), Indians (2), one Pakistani national and two Chinese nationals.

Authorities said the premises was found to be heavily occupied by foreign nationals from multiple countries, with some believed to have been using it as a temporary living space.

All detainees were taken to immigration depots for further investigation and action under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
