Former Sabah chief minister Salleh Said Keruak has said his recent visit to Johor has strengthened his view that meaningful progress can be achieved when leadership is focused, administration is efficient, and development plans are carried out consistently.
Salleh, who was part of a Sabah Umno delegation on a three-day working visit to the southern state, said he was able to observe first-hand the rapid pace of development taking place across Johor.
He noted that construction activity could be seen across various sectors, including industrial parks, housing projects, commercial developments and major infrastructure works, reflecting what he described as strong momentum in the state’s growth.
“Johor today stands as a strong example of how good governance and strategic execution can deliver meaningful results for the people and the state,” he said in a statement.
He added that the scale of development represented more than just economic activity, but also demonstrated careful planning, investor confidence, and strong cooperation between state and federal authorities.
Salleh also highlighted Johor’s growing reputation as one of Malaysia’s key investment destinations, pointing to initiatives such as the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), which he said is helping to attract high-value investments, create jobs, and strengthen long-term economic prospects.
He commended the administration of Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi for prioritising a business-friendly environment while continuing to enhance infrastructure and public services.
Salleh further said credit should be given to the Barisan Nasional-led state government for its commitment to economic growth and development, noting that the benefits are visible through increased employment opportunities, stronger business activity and improved public amenities.
Barisan Nasional formed the previous Johor state government after securing 40 of the 56 seats in the 2022 state election, while Pakatan Harapan won 12 seats, Perikatan Nasional three, and MUDA one.
