Thunderstorms Expected Across Most States Until 5PM, MetMalaysia Warns

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds affecting almost all states in Peninsular Malaysia, as well as several areas in Sabah, Sarawak and the Federal Territory of Labuan, expected to last until 5pm today.

In a statement, MetMalaysia said Perlis and Penang are fully expected to experience adverse weather conditions throughout the warning period.

In Kedah, affected areas include Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu. In Perak, the warning covers Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim.

For the east coast region, the alert involves parts of Pahang including Cameron Highlands, Raub, Bentong and Rompin, as well as Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat) and Negeri Sembilan covering Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Jempol and Tampin.

Johor is also expected to be affected, particularly the districts of Mersing and Kota Tinggi.

In East Malaysia, Sabah is forecast to face similar conditions across the Interior Division (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Tambunan), West Coast, Tawau (Kunak and Lahad Datu), Sandakan (Beluran) and Kudat, as well as Labuan.

Meanwhile, in Sarawak, the affected areas include Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong (Pusa and Betong), Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Sibu (Sibu and Kanowit), Mukah (Matu and Dalat), Kapit (Song), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi) and Limbang.
