A hiking guide experienced hypoglycaemia symptoms and fatigue while taking part in a trekking activity at Gunung Irau early Sunday morning.
According to Pahang Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Mohd Salahuddin Isa, emergency services received a distress call regarding the incident at 12.05am.
The 35-year-old man was reportedly at Check Point 2, also known as Camp Valley, together with another hiker while awaiting rescue assistance.
A team from the Cameron Highlands Fire and Rescue Station was immediately deployed and arrived at the foot of the mountain at 12.56am.
A second hiker accompanying the victim was reported to be unharmed, authorities confirmed.
The rescue operation involved 12 firefighters, supported by five Forestry Department personnel, two police officers and a Pahang mountain guide.
Rescuers had to trek approximately two kilometres from the base of the mountain to reach the location due to difficult terrain.
Upon arrival, the team found the man in a stable condition but exhausted, after experiencing low blood sugar symptoms.
Food and drinks were provided before he was escorted safely down the mountain by the rescue team.
The victim was successfully brought down without further complications, with the operation brought under control at 2.18am and fully concluded at 2.50am.
