Fire Destroys Entire House In Kampung Bratan, Family Escapes Safely

A family was left with nothing after a non-permanent structure house in Kampung Bratan, Jalan Puncak Borneo, was completely destroyed in a fire that broke out last night.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre (PGO), emergency services received a distress call at 7.46pm before firefighters from Siburan Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene, assisted by Kota Sentosa station.

The operation team arrived at the location at about 8.15pm after travelling approximately 22 kilometres to the fire scene.

Firefighters confirmed that the blaze involved a house measuring about 60 feet by 40 feet, which was completely destroyed in the incident.

The fire was brought under control at 8.18pm before the operation was fully concluded at 9.10pm.

Firefighters deployed multiple firefighting lines, including hose lines and water supply from a nearby drain, to contain and extinguish the fire.

The operation was also supported by the Simpok Volunteer Fire Brigade, while Siburan Fire Station chief Mohamad Imran Mohamad Sabri was present to monitor the situation.

All occupants managed to escape safely before the fire spread, with no injuries or fatalities reported.

Firefighters later carried out overhaul work to ensure no remaining hotspots could trigger a secondary fire.

The cause of the fire and the total losses are still under investigation.
