A Form One student from a school in the Kinta district is fighting for his life after reportedly falling from a school building in an incident that occurred on Monday.
The teenager is understood to be in critical condition and is currently receiving treatment at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) in Ipoh.
The incident was revealed by Perak State Executive Councillor for Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports, Datuk Khairudin Abu Hanipah, through a Facebook post shared on Monday evening.
According to Khairudin, the incident is believed to have taken place around midday before the student was rushed to hospital for emergency medical treatment.
He said he was informed of the incident shortly after completing an official meeting and immediately headed to the HRPB Emergency Department to obtain preliminary information regarding what had happened.
During his visit, Khairudin met with the victim’s parents and expressed his sympathy and support to the family during what he described as a difficult and distressing time. Incidents involving students at educational institutions often spark concern among parents and the wider community, particularly when they involve serious injuries.
Also present at the hospital was Director-General of Education, Datuk Dr Azam Ahmad, who met with the victim’s family and received updates on the student’s condition.
In response to the incident, Khairudin has instructed the relevant District Education Office and the Perak State Education Department to prepare a comprehensive report on the circumstances surrounding the case.
He also directed school management teams across the state to remain vigilant and pay closer attention to safety conditions within school compounds to help prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
Meanwhile, Perak Police Chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin confirmed the incident and said investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the fall.
Authorities have yet to release further details as police continue gathering information and conducting their inquiries.
