Driver Fatally Collapses Behind Wheel Before Car Overturns In Early Morning Crash

Date:

A 47-year-old man died after he is believed to have suffered a heart attack while driving along Kilometer 5.1 of the Kota Tinggi–Kluang Road in the early hours of the morning.

Kota Tinggi District Police Chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said the incident also caused the vehicle he was driving to lose control before crashing and overturning near a hotel in the town centre.

Police received an emergency call at about 2.45am regarding a single-vehicle accident involving a Proton Saga.

The car was driven by the man, a local labourer, with his 46-year-old wife as the passenger.

Authorities believe the driver may have experienced a sudden medical episode while behind the wheel, leading to the fatal crash.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while his wife was taken to hospital for treatment.

The body has been sent to the Kota Tinggi Hospital Forensic Unit for post-mortem examination.

Police said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
