19-Year-Old Stabbed 14 Times In Brutal Rejection Attack

Date:

A 19-year-old female student was seriously injured after being stabbed 14 times in just 47 seconds in an attack allegedly carried out by a man who was angry after she rejected his love proposal.

In the incident on Friday, the victim, identified as Pooja or Gungun, was on her way to work as a computer operator at a pharmacy in Dawa Bazar when she was stopped by the suspect near Madhav Club.

According to NDTV, CCTV footage showed the 21-year-old suspect speaking to the victim for a few seconds before suddenly pulling out a knife and launching a brutal attack.

The victim suffered severe injuries to her abdomen, neck and hands.

Members of the public rushed to assist her before she was taken to a district hospital and later transferred to Patidar Hospital for further treatment.

Doctors said her condition remains critical.

Police later arrested the suspect, Sunil Jaroliya, about three hours after the incident.

Preliminary investigations found that the suspect had known the victim through Instagram for about four years and allegedly intended to marry her.

However, the victim had reportedly cut off contact about 10 days earlier, while her mother also disapproved of the relationship.

Ujjain police chief Pradeep Sharma said the suspect had been harassing the victim after she ended the relationship.

He said the suspect waited for the victim near Dawa Bazar, spoke to her briefly, and then carried out the stabbing attack.

The suspect was also injured after falling while attempting to escape by climbing a wall.

He is currently receiving treatment in hospital before being questioned and charged to assist investigations.
