Husband Reported Missing, Believed to Have Eloped—Skeleton Found in Septic Tank After 3 Years

Date:

A woman was left stunned after discovering human remains in a septic tank at her home, believed to belong to her husband who had been missing for three years.

Thawee Paekratoke, 60, immediately alerted police after finding bones and a skull inside the unused septic tank at her residence in Nong Boon Mak district, Isaan province, Thailand, on Monday.

According to Thawee, her husband, Soeng Paekratoke, 65, was reported missing on November 15, 2022. At the time, she lodged a police report but received no updates on his whereabouts.

The family eventually stopped searching after locals claimed they had seen Soeng with another woman at a market. Believing he had abandoned his family for a new relationship, Thawee no longer pursued the matter.

However, while cleaning the backyard, she decided to clear out the old septic tank filled with waste. It was then that she came across bones, a skull, and a piece of clothing she immediately recognized as belonging to her husband.

“Seeing the clothes, I was certain it was my husband,” she said.

Thawee suspects her husband may have accidentally fallen into the tank while drunk.

Police have since launched an investigation to confirm the identity of the remains. The bones have been sent to the Department of Forensic Medicine at Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital for identification and to determine the cause of death.
