A pickup truck was almost completely destroyed after its interior was gutted by fire in an early morning incident at Jalan Hua Kiew.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre, an emergency call was received at 2.14am, prompting the deployment of eight firefighters from the Sibu Fire and Rescue Station.
A Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit were also dispatched to the scene to assist in firefighting efforts.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that the fire had engulfed the interior of the vehicle, although it did not spread to the engine compartment.
The blaze caused an estimated 100 per cent destruction of the vehicle’s interior.
Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control using a hose line supplied by the fire engine’s water tank.
The fire was contained at 2.20am and fully extinguished shortly after.
No casualties were reported in the incident, and the operation concluded at 2.40am after the area was declared safe.
