Khaled Nordin Says PAS Move Reflects Johor Political Reality

Date:

PAS’ directive for its members and supporters to vote for Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates in seats not contested by Perikatan Nasional (PN) reflects the current political reality in Johor, said UMNO Vice-President Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

He said that based on the number of seats contested in the Johor state election, only Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) are seen to have the capacity to form the state government.

He noted that BN is contesting all 56 state seats, while PH is contesting 51 seats, compared to PN, represented by PAS and Bersatu, which is only contesting 27 seats.

According to him, the figures indicate that PN does not have sufficient strength to form a state government, even if PAS and Bersatu were to combine forces.

Mohamed Khaled said this when asked to comment on PAS’ instruction for its members and supporters to vote for BN candidates in constituencies where PN is not contesting.

He also described the situation within PN as lacking cohesion, citing conflicting statements between PAS and Bersatu regarding post-election cooperation.

He said this reflects the absence of clear consensus within the coalition, making it difficult for them to form a state government.

He stressed that Johor requires a stable and strong government to ensure smooth administration and continued development.

According to him, voters should make decisions based on a party’s ability to form an effective government, rather than treating the election as a political experiment.
