Taqiuddin Dismisses Claims Of Boycott Within Amanah Campaign Machinery

Date:

Pakatan Harapan (PH) Maharani candidate Taqiuddin Cheman has dismissed allegations that certain allies within Amanah are boycotting his campaign ahead of the Johor election on July 11.

Taqiuddin, who is from Amanah, said he does not believe there is any organised boycott by PH component party members, particularly within his own party in the Maharani constituency.

He acknowledged that there may be isolated dissatisfaction among a small number of individuals, but stressed that it would not develop into a wider movement capable of affecting his campaign.

The former Pulai Sebatang assemblyman also said he remains confident that the PH campaign machinery is functioning well and receiving consistent support throughout the election period.

Taqiuddin, who serves as the state Amanah Youth chief, also rejected claims that he is a parachute candidate, stating that he has long been active in Muar politics and has deep local roots.

He pointed out that he has been involved in the area since his youth, including previously serving as Muar PAS Youth chief in 2015, and currently holds the position of Muar Amanah division vice-chief.

He was responding to speculation that some supporters within Amanah were reluctant to back his candidacy due to dissatisfaction over his selection for the Maharani seat.

The Maharani constituency will see a four-cornered contest involving Taqiuddin, Anuar Hayan (Perikatan Nasional), Ashari Sarip (Barisan Nasional), and Amir Jack (MUDA), following a closely contested seat in the 2022 Johor election.
