PAS Predicts Major Malay Swing Against PH In Negeri Sembilan Polls

Date:

PAS has expressed confidence that the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election will see a strong rejection of Pakatan Harapan (PH) among Malay voters, similar to the outcome witnessed in the recent Johor state polls.

PAS Information Chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari claimed that government announcements on development funding and the display of oversized mock cheques during election campaigns are no longer effective in winning public support. He described the tactic as outdated and no longer capable of influencing voters.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, the Pasir Mas MP said such campaign methods had become obsolete but alleged that several ministers were still relying on them in an attempt to gain political mileage ahead of the Negeri Sembilan election.

He was responding to reports that the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) had allocated RM430.26 million to Negeri Sembilan for the implementation of 80 major development projects across the state.

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the allocation, channelled since 2023, covers projects involving public infrastructure construction and maintenance, affordable housing, landscape development, non-Muslim places of worship, new village development, as well as various local council facilities.

Ahmad Fadhli further claimed that the RM116 million displayed on the mock cheque referred only to allocations for 2026, adding that part of the funds would have already been spent while the remainder was still in the process of being distributed.

He alleged that the amount was being highlighted again because the Negeri Sembilan state election is approaching, accusing the ministry of using the allocation announcement as a campaign tool. He also referenced Nga’s previous pledge to resign if UMNO recorded a landslide victory in Johor.

The Johor state election concluded with Barisan Nasional (BN) retaining control of the state after winning 48 of the 56 State Legislative Assembly seats, improving on its 2022 performance and securing a two-thirds majority. PAS believes the result reflects growing Malay support for the opposition and expects a similar trend to emerge in Negeri Sembilan.
