Seven-Year-Old Boy Killed After Allegedly Being Hit By School Bus In Kluang

Date:

A seven-year-old schoolboy was killed after he was allegedly struck by a school bus shortly after being dropped off in Taman Sri Lalang, Kluang, on Wednesday afternoon.

Kluang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the incident occurred at about 4.20pm along Jalan Bunga Raya 3. The victim, identified as Muhammad Umar Mohd Faaiz, suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations found that a Hino school bus driven by a 36-year-old local woman had dropped the boy off along Jalan Bunga Raya before turning into Jalan Bunga Raya 3. Police believe the bus then struck the child, who was on the left side of the road.

The impact caused the boy to fall onto the road, where he sustained fatal head injuries. Emergency responders later confirmed his death at the scene.

The bus driver reportedly fainted after witnessing the incident and is currently receiving treatment at Hospital Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom.

Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Bahrin urged all road users to remain vigilant, obey traffic laws and exercise consideration while on the road to prevent similar tragedies. He also reminded school bus drivers to ensure the safety of children before moving off after drop-offs.

Anyone with information about the incident has been urged to contact the nearest police station or the Kluang District Police Headquarters to assist with the investigation.
