An elderly man was injured after the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a car while he was refuelling at a petrol station along Jalan Kuching-Serian this morning.

A spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre said an emergency call was received at 9.45am, prompting a team from the Siburan Fire and Rescue Station to be dispatched to the scene.

The incident involved a car that crashed into a motorcycle which was parked at the petrol station while the rider was filling up fuel.

The spokesperson said the elderly motorcyclist suffered an open wound to his knee and received initial treatment from the Fire and Rescue Department’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team at the location.

“The elderly car driver did not suffer any injuries.

“The injured victim was later handed over to the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) ambulance team for further treatment,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

The operation ended at 10.23am after firefighters ensured the area was safe.

The rescue team then returned to the station after completing the operation.
