A social media influencer has claimed trial at the Sessions Court here after being charged with allegedly raping a teenage girl below the age of 18 last month.
Muhammad Iman Hazriq Azizan, 23, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read before Sessions Court Judge Sharifah Norazlita Syed Salim Idid on Friday.
The accused was alleged to have committed the offence against a 14-year-old girl at a house in Jalan Tiong, Taman Kangar, on June 17.
He was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail sentence of between 10 and 30 years as well as whipping upon conviction.
The court allowed the accused to be released on RM13,000 bail with one surety and imposed additional conditions, including requiring him to report to the nearest police station every month.
The accused was also ordered not to interfere with the victim and prosecution witnesses until the completion of the case.
The court fixed Aug 14 for the next mention of the case.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nabilah Ahmad Poad handled the prosecution, while the accused appeared without legal representation.
