An Indonesian university student surprised lecturers and fellow students by bringing a live python to his final thesis presentation, according to local news portal Lambe Turah.
A video shared on Instagram by @sellyrs showed the student presenting his thesis titled “Species Diversity of Snakes on Enggano Island.”
During the presentation, one of the lecturers asked to see the research sample.
To the audience’s surprise, the student opened a box and pulled out a live python.
He later explained that he chose the topic because of his long-standing interest in keeping snakes as a hobby.
“It’s my hobby. I have many snakes at home, and people often give me snakes as gifts,” he said.
The video has garnered more than 531,000 views on Instagram and sparked a wave of reactions from social media users.
“Just pass him already!” one netizen joked.
