Armed Robber Flees With Seven Firearms After Failed Cash Van Heist In Klang

Date:

Police are hunting for an armed robber who fled with seven firearms after a failed attempt to rob a cash-in-transit vehicle outside a bank in Bukit Tinggi, Klang on Monday.

The incident occurred at about 5.30pm, when security personnel were unloading cash from an armoured vehicle into the bank.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the suspect, who was wearing a jacket and a full-face helmet, approached the guards and threatened them with a revolver, demanding valuables.

Instead of confronting the suspect, the security personnel quickly moved the cash into the bank and immediately locked the entrance, preventing the robber from getting hold of the money.

After failing to seize the cash, the suspect allegedly grabbed the firearms carried by the security personnel before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.

Police said a total of seven firearms, estimated to be worth about RM82,000, were stolen during the incident.

Initial investigations indicate that the suspect acted alone. However, police are still investigating his identity, escape route and whether he had any accomplices.

Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the bank and surrounding areas, as well as dashboard camera recordings from nearby vehicles, to identify the motorcycle used, the suspect’s clothing and the direction in which he fled.

Police have also set up roadblocks at several locations and increased patrols in an effort to arrest the suspect and recover the stolen firearms.

The case is being investigated under Sections 392 and 397 of the Penal Code for robbery and armed robbery.

Police urged anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or who has information, photographs or dashcam footage of the suspect or the motorcycle involved to contact the Selangor Criminal Investigation Department or the nearest police station.
