Zahid Dismisses Coup Claims, Reaffirms BN’s Support For Unity Government

Date:

Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has dismissed speculation of any attempt to unseat Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, reaffirming BN’s commitment to the Unity Government until the end of the 15th Parliament.

Responding to claims of an alleged plot to bring down the government, Ahmad Zahid said various rumours and speculation had surfaced but insisted he had no intention of supporting any such move.

“I have absolutely no intention. There is no ‘Langkah Bengkok’, no ‘Dubai Move’ — nothing of that sort,” he told reporters on Thursday.

The Deputy Prime Minister said BN remains committed to the Unity Government in line with the decree of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong following the formation of the federal administration after the 15th General Election.

“When we committed ourselves to the Unity Government, following the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decree, we committed to remain until the end of the 15th Parliament. Full stop,” he said.
