Petronas Clarifies It Has No Role In F1 Bahrain Grand Prix Ticket Sales

Date:

Petronas has clarified that it does not manage, control or have access to the allocation, sale or distribution of tickets for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, as it is not the organiser of the event.

In a statement on Monday, the national oil company said all ticket sales are handled exclusively by the event organisers through official sales channels.

“We appreciate the excitement surrounding the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), which is scheduled to take place from Oct. 2 to Oct. 4,” the statement said.

Petronas also explained that while it holds the naming rights to the Sepang International Circuit, the venue is owned by Sepang International Circuit Sdn Bhd, a company under the Minister of Finance Incorporated (MOF Inc), and is operated by an agency under the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Malaysia was officially confirmed as the host of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, with the announcement made by Formula 1 on its official website on Sunday.

The race was added to the 2026 calendar alongside the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and Singapore Grand Prix after an agreement was reached between Formula 1, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), and the governments of Bahrain and Malaysia. The arrangement allows the Bahrain Grand Prix to proceed while keeping the remainder of the 2026 F1 calendar unchanged.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reaffirmed the government’s full commitment to Formula 1’s return to Sepang following meetings with Bahrain Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, as well as Formula 1 president and chief executive officer Stefano Domenicali.

Anwar said he appreciated the confidence placed in Malaysia and expressed his commitment to ensuring the successful hosting of the Formula 1 event later this year.
