The Mukah District Police Headquarters has stepped up efforts to strengthen ties with residents through a joint crime prevention patrol involving members of the Voluntary Patrol Scheme (SRS) and Neighbourhood Watch (KRT) from Kampung Petanak Seri.
The programme, led by Insp Song Ching Leng alongside police officers and personnel, focused on increasing police presence in residential areas while encouraging greater community involvement in maintaining safety.
Mukah district police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said cooperation between the public and police plays an important role in creating safer neighbourhoods and improving crime prevention efforts.
“Crime prevention is a shared responsibility. We encourage the community to continue working closely with the police by becoming our eyes and ears and reporting any suspicious activities in their areas,” he said during the programme yesterday.
He added that community patrols not only serve as a deterrent against criminal activities but also help build public confidence through stronger engagement between residents and law enforcement.
During the patrol, police also provided information on the increasing threat of online scams, advising residents to be cautious when receiving suspicious calls, messages or links.
Muhamad Rizal reminded the public to verify any doubtful communications before taking action and encouraged them to share scam prevention awareness with family members and neighbours.
The programme ended smoothly with the area remaining safe, peaceful and under control, while police reaffirmed their commitment to working together with the community to prevent crime.
