Police have opened an investigation into a fight involving two individuals, including a school student, after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
Klang Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Lim Jit Huey said authorities detected a recording showing two men involved in a public fight while being watched by a group of individuals.
He said initial investigations found that the incident took place at about 1.20pm on July 31 at the parking area of the Pandamaran Sports Complex in Klang.
“One of the individuals involved in the fight was identified as a 16-year-old school student, while the identity of the other man has yet to be established.
“The motive behind the incident is still being investigated and police are working to identify all individuals involved,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
Lim said the Criminal Investigation Division of the Klang Selatan District Police Headquarters (IPD) has opened an investigation paper under Section 160 of the Penal Code.
The case is also being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Police urged members of the public with information related to the incident to come forward and assist with investigations.
