PH To Reassess Strategy After Negeri Sembilan Election Setback

Date:

Pakatan Harapan (PH) will continue championing a political approach based on values, integrity and governing capability while reviewing its strategies to adapt to the changing political landscape.

Amanah vice-president Adly Zahari said the principles remained central to PH’s struggle as voters would ultimately assess issues that directly affect their daily lives, including the cost of living, economy, education and government performance.

He said PH would also conduct further reviews following the outcome of the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election to identify areas that could be improved.

“We will look into more matters through post-election assessments to make further improvements,” he told reporters after officiating the Penang Amanah Convention.

Adly said this while commenting on the performance of PH and Amanah in the Negeri Sembilan state election.

He added that PH needed to strengthen its communication strategy to ensure the government’s achievements, economic policies and efforts to assist the people were delivered more effectively to voters.

The Negeri Sembilan election saw Barisan Nasional (BN) securing 18 out of 36 state seats, while PH won 11 seats and Perikatan Nasional (PN) obtained seven seats.

Meanwhile, Penang PH chairman Chow Kon Yeow said the coalition would hold a meeting on Aug 8 to review the results of the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections, while preparing new strategies should an earlier general election be called.

He said PH needed to refocus voters’ attention on government performance, service delivery, public welfare, achievements and efforts to create more job opportunities.
