Police Completing Investigation Into Dog’s Death During Klang Stray Dog Operation

Date:

Police are finalising their investigation into the death of a pet dog during a stray dog enforcement operation conducted by the Royal Klang City Council (MBDK) last Wednesday.

South Klang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Lim Jit Huey said investigators have opened a case under Section 428 of the Penal Code, which relates to the offence of killing or maiming animals.

“The investigation is being actively completed by gathering all relevant evidence and witness statements before the investigation papers are submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP),” he said in a statement on Monday.

He assured the public that the investigation would be carried out fairly, transparently and professionally without favouring any party.

The case gained widespread attention after a social media user alleged that their pet dog, Rocky, died during MBDK’s stray dog capture operation.

According to the owner, Rocky, who had been raised since puppyhood and was regarded as part of the family, was restrained with a metal cable around its neck and pulled forcefully until it struggled to breathe. The owner also alleged the dog was struck with an iron rod during the operation.

Separately, Lim said police monitored a peaceful gathering titled “Justice for Rocky”, which took place outside the South Klang District Police Headquarters (IPD) at around 10.15pm on Sunday.

He said the gathering was held to urge authorities to take action over the dog’s death during the enforcement operation.

Lim advised the public to continue respecting the law and avoid gathering outside government premises, as such assemblies could disrupt public services and affect traffic flow.

He also urged the public to remain calm and allow the legal process to proceed without interference.

“Members of the public are also advised not to make or spread speculation that could disrupt the ongoing investigation,” he said.
