The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has remanded a former manager over allegations of misappropriating rubber seedling supply contracts worth approximately RM8 million involving a subsidiary of a statutory body in the plantation sector.
The suspect is understood to be a former plantation manager at a rubber seedling supply company based in the Klang Valley.
A Magistrate’s Court in Putrajaya granted a three-day remand order until August 6 following an application by the MACC on Tuesday.
According to a source, the man, who is in his 50s, was arrested at around 7pm on Monday after appearing at the MACC headquarters to provide his statement.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly committed the offences between 2015 and 2017 by misusing rubber seedling supply projects involving two plantation companies, both subsidiaries of a statutory body, with contracts valued at about RM8 million.
The arrest follows investigations by a special task force established to examine findings contained in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Tabung Haji, which was publicly released through the official portal of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) on July 29, 2026.
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrest when contacted and said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
