Elderly Care Home Resident Found Dead On Walkway

A 78-year-old resident of an elderly care home was found dead outside a premises along Jalan Meriam in Muar on Friday.

Muar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the man was discovered unresponsive on a pedestrian walkway within the parking area in front of the premises.

He said police received a report regarding the discovery at around 8.30am.

According to him, the man had been staying at an elderly care facility since 2004 and was known to regularly walk to the Bentayan area to have breakfast.

“However, he frequently complained of headaches and had a history of chronic illness,” he said in a statement.

Raiz Mukhliz said initial investigations found no signs of criminal activity on the man’s body or at the scene.

He added that the man was believed to have died from complications related to a lung condition.

“The case has been classified as sudden death (SDR) as police investigations and forensic examination found no criminal elements,” he said.
