Two female students from Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) Alor Gajah who were reported missing since Tuesday have been found at Central Market in Kuala Lumpur.
MARA chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki confirmed that Siti Nur Aaira Aidi and Nur Aisy Humaira Mohd Saad were located by police at around 10.31pm last night.
In a social media post, Asyraf expressed his gratitude after Bukit Aman police successfully located both Form Four students, bringing an end to the search that had lasted for several days.
Earlier, MRSM Alor Gajah principal Azaam Yacob said police had continued patrols around Central Market at about 10.15pm after the area was identified as the possible location of the two students.
The search operation also involved several parents representing Muafakat MRSM Alor Gajah and representatives from MARA’s Secondary Education Division.
Azaam said the students were found inside the Central Market commercial area by police and those involved in the search operation. Parent representatives then provided initial assistance and helped calm the students.
The two students are currently under police supervision while their statements are being recorded as part of further investigations.
Police had earlier received a report from a teacher at about 10.46pm on Aug 11 regarding the disappearance of the two 16-year-old students.
Alor Gajah district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar previously said both students were aged 16. Their last known location before they were found was reportedly at the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) in Kuala Lumpur.
Police subsequently sought the public’s assistance in locating the pair, who were found about three days after the missing persons report was lodged.
Before their safe discovery, Asyraf had appealed to the public to pray for the students’ safe return to their families. Their discovery is expected to bring relief to their families, school community and those involved in the search operation.
