Police are investigating a viral video showing a white Kia Forte being pursued by officers in Bandar Eco Majestic, Kajang, on Saturday.
Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said police received a report regarding the incident at about 10.31am.
He said officers also identified a video circulating on the Threads social media platform which was believed to have captured the incident.
“The white Kia Forte was driven by an unidentified individual and the vehicle’s registration number could not be clearly seen,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
According to Naazron, the vehicle managed to evade the police during the pursuit and its driver has yet to be identified.
The incident gained attention after footage showing the driver allegedly attempting to escape from pursuing police vehicles was widely shared online.
Police are investigating the case under Sections 279 and 186 of the Penal Code, involving alleged dangerous driving and obstructing a public servant in the discharge of duties.
