A policeman’s wife broke down in tears at the Sessions Court today while appealing for a lighter sentence after pleading guilty to using her disabled child’s bank account in a fake house rental scam.
Noor Fazira Sinen, 31, entered the guilty plea after the charge was read before Sessions Court Judge Hafizah Abdul Rajak.
In her plea for leniency, the accused, who is pregnant, told the court that she has five children to support, including a child with disabilities, while also caring for her elderly mother.
The court subsequently fined her RM6,000, with three months’ imprisonment imposed if she fails to pay the fine.
According to the charge, Noor Fazira was accused of unlawfully possessing and controlling a payment instrument belonging to another person, namely a Bank Simpanan Nasional account registered under her own child’s name.
The offence was allegedly committed at Jalan Anggerik 2/12, Taman Anggerik Tenggara, Bandar Tenggara, between April 30 and May 22 this year.
The bank account was allegedly used to deceive a woman in a non-existent house rental scheme, resulting in the victim suffering a loss of RM1,500.
The case highlights the risks of allowing personal or family bank accounts to be used for transactions linked to suspicious rental offers, particularly as scammers increasingly exploit legitimate-looking payment channels.
