A director of a printing company has been remanded for five days after allegedly submitting false documents related to the design, printing and supply of a ‘coffee table’ book featuring a former top state leader, worth around RM100,000 in 2021.
The 60-something suspect was ordered to remain in custody until August 22 by Ayer Keroh Magistrates’ Court magistrate Sharda Shienha Mohd Suleiman following an application by the Melaka Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
According to sources, the suspect was detained at around 8pm yesterday after appearing at the Melaka MACC office to have his statement recorded.
“Initial investigations found that the suspect is believed to have committed the offence in 2021.
“He is suspected of submitting payment claim documents for the ‘coffee table’ book containing false material particulars, while the supply was also allegedly incomplete,” the source said.
Melaka MACC director Datuk Adi Supian Shafie confirmed the arrest when contacted and said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
