805 Cartons Of Duty-Unpaid Cigarettes Worth RM304,893 Seized In Jenjarom Raid

A total of 805 cartons of cigarettes from various brands, believed to be duty-unpaid, were seized during a raid at a premises in Kampung Sungai Rambai, Jenjarom, on Friday.

The cigarettes were estimated to be worth RM304,893.50, according to the authorities.

4th Battalion General Operations Force (PGA) commanding officer Superintendent Amanjit Singh said the raid was conducted at around 6.30pm by officers and personnel from the 4th Battalion Intelligence Branch in Semenyih, with assistance from the Kuala Langat District Criminal Investigation Division (BSJD).

He said a local man believed to be the caretaker of the premises was arrested during the operation.

“Besides the cigarettes, police also seized a mobile phone believed to have been used in the distribution of duty-unpaid cigarettes,” he said in a statement today.

All seized items and the suspect were taken to the Kuala Langat District Police Headquarters for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under the Customs Act 1967.
