MyKad Printing Services Nationwide To Face Six-Day Disruption Starting Today

Date:

MyKad printing services nationwide are expected to face temporary disruptions for six days from today as the National Registration Department (JPN) begins the transition to the New Generation MyKad.

In a statement, JPN said the disruption is expected to take place from Aug 26 to Aug 31, 2026, as the department shifts from the existing MyKad structure to the new-generation card.

“During this transition period, MyKad printing services nationwide are expected to experience temporary disruptions from Aug 26, 2026, to Aug 31, 2026,” it said.

Members of the public who do not have an urgent need to replace or renew their MyKad have been advised to postpone their applications until the transition process is completed.

The temporary measure is intended to minimise inconvenience as JPN carries out the necessary system changes and preparations for the issuance of the new-generation identity cards.

Parents and guardians whose children are turning 12 and are due to apply for their first MyKad have also been advised to wait for the time being.

JPN said this would allow eligible children to receive the New Generation MyKad once issuance begins in the near future.

However, the temporary disruption only affects MyKad printing services during the period specified. Other JPN services are not stated to be affected by the announcement.

JPN thanked the public for their patience and cooperation throughout the transition and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
