Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has clarified that the proposed Mara hospital will provide treatment to patients of all races.
He said concerns that the hospital would be racially exclusive were unfounded, stressing that patients would not be selected based on their race.
“This has nothing to do with race. The hospital is for everyone. We will not choose our patients,” he said at a press conference today.
Asyraf added that doctors were professionally bound to treat patients regardless of whether they were Bumiputera or non-Bumiputera.
“Professionally, doctors cannot choose whether to treat Bumiputera or non-Bumiputera patients. That is not our intention,” he said.
