Five Dead, Three Critically Injured After Boeing 767 Crashes Into Vehicles Near Miami Airport

Date:

At least five people were killed and five others injured after an Amazon cargo plane crashed off the runway at Miami International Airport and slammed into several vehicles on a nearby road, the New York Post reported.

The accident occurred shortly before 2pm local time yesterday and involved Prime Air Flight 7598, a Boeing 767 operated by 21 Air.

The aircraft was landing after flying from Puerto Rico when it veered off the runway, crashed onto a public road and caught fire, authorities said.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava confirmed the death toll and said three of the injured victims were in critical condition.

Authorities have yet to determine whether the people killed or injured were members of the aircraft’s crew or motorists on the nearby road.

However, the plane’s two pilots reportedly survived the crash and were taken to a nearby hospital along with three other injured victims, NBC 6 reported.

The Miami-Dade Fire Department said around 60 fire and medical units were deployed to the scene to battle the blaze and provide emergency medical assistance.
