A 26-year-old man was injured after a man believed to have psychiatric issues allegedly swung an iron bar at him in Pekan Lama Nilai on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred at about 9.06am, leaving Muhammad Dzulfikri Syamsuri Sha Abdul Lasim with an injury to his forehead.
Nilai district police chief Superintendent Johari Yahya said police received information about a fight involving a weapon through the NG999 emergency response system.
“Initial investigations found that the victim was attempting to cross an area in Pekan Lama Nilai when he stopped a man believed to have psychiatric issues.
“However, the suspect then became aggressive and swung an iron bar at the victim, striking him on the forehead and causing injuries,” he said.
Johari said police arrived at the scene shortly afterwards but found that the suspect had fled.
He added that police are actively tracking down the suspect.
