Baby’s Body Found In Bangkok Hotel Fridge, 21-Year-Old Woman Admits Taking Abortion Medication

Date:

A 21-year-old Thai woman has admitted taking medication to terminate her pregnancy after the body of a baby boy was found inside a refrigerator at a hotel in Bangkok on September 30.

The woman, identified as Katesara, initially contacted officers from Hua Mak Police Station and told them she had suffered a miscarriage while staying at a hotel along Soi Ramkhamhaeng 40 in Bangkok’s Bang Kapi district.

According to Workpoint News, Katesara had checked into the hotel on August 30.

She told police that she began experiencing abdominal pain at around 3am on September 27 before going to the toilet at about 6am, believing she needed to have a bowel movement.

She reportedly told officers that she unexpectedly gave birth in the bathroom and that the baby had died.

Police subsequently searched the hotel room and discovered the body of a baby boy, believed to have been in the late stages of pregnancy, inside a rubbish bag placed in the refrigerator compartment.

Officers also found empty packaging for medication believed to have been used to terminate a pregnancy.

During further questioning, Katesara reportedly admitted that she had obtained the medication online with the intention of ending her pregnancy herself.

Police are continuing their investigation, including taking further statements from the woman and examining the circumstances leading up to the discovery of the baby’s body.
