The allocation for the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme will be increased from RM15 billion to RM16 billion under Budget 2027, with nine million recipients set to receive assistance of up to RM150 monthly or RM1,800 annually.

The announcement was outlined in the Budget 2027 materials presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, highlighting the government’s continued support for Malaysians amid rising living costs.
Under the SARA Madani 2027 initiative, eligible recipients will receive RM100 twice a year, ahead of Aidilfitri and in conjunction with the Merdeka 70th anniversary celebrations.

The initiative will also benefit Malaysians aged 18 and above, including those in the M40 income group.
In addition, the government will expand the use of SARA assistance to cover wet and fresh goods available at 216 FAMA farmers’ markets nationwide.
The improvement is aimed at giving recipients greater flexibility in using their assistance to purchase essential food items, while expanding access to the programme through more participating markets.
