Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a combined allocation of RM700 million for national sports development and preparations for the 2027 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games under Budget 2027.




Of the total, RM240 million will be allocated for preparations to host the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games in 2027, covering arrangements for the major regional sporting events.
A further RM460 million will be channelled towards national sports development, including high-performance sports programmes and the development of athletes.
The allocation will also support the Para Games and the implementation of the Road to Gold programme, aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s pursuit of Olympic gold medals.
In addition, funding will be provided for the development of sports facilities nationwide.
The measures form part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s sporting ecosystem, develop athletes and prepare the country for major international competitions.
