Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a series of wage increases under Budget 2027, including a hike in the national minimum wage from RM1,700 to RM2,000 starting June 2027.

The measures, outlined under the government’s Pendapatan Bermaruah untuk Pekerja initiative, aim to improve workers’ earnings and strengthen income support for Malaysians.
Under the proposal, the minimum wage for skilled workers and graduates will be set at RM2,500, recognising the importance of skills and qualifications in the workforce.

The government will also increase the salary range under the Gaji Living Cost (GLC) and Gaji Adil Cost (GIC) initiatives from RM3,100 to RM3,400, according to the Budget 2027 materials.
In addition, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with annual sales below RM50 million will be eligible for a tax exemption, as outlined in the announcement.
The measures form part of the government’s broader efforts to improve workers’ incomes and provide support for businesses, while addressing the cost of living faced by Malaysians.
