Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a RM160 million package under Budget 2027 to support the welfare of e-hailing and p-hailing workers, in collaboration with Grab.
The initiative aims to improve gig workers’ welfare through several measures, including higher minimum income rates, vehicle maintenance assistance and insurance coverage.
The package will also include contributions to the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso), providing additional social protection for eligible workers.
The measures form part of the government’s efforts to strengthen support for gig economy workers and address the financial challenges faced by those relying on e-hailing and p-hailing services for their livelihoods.
