Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a reduction in the service tax rate for senior citizens’ care services from 8% to 6% under Budget 2027.
The government will also raise the annual threshold for service tax exemption on senior citizens’ care services to RM96,000.
The measures are aimed at easing the financial burden on families paying for elderly care services, while making such services more affordable for senior citizens.
The announcement forms part of the Budget 2027 initiatives concerning senior citizens’ welfare and the cost of care.
