Pearly Tan-Thinaah End Malaysia’s 18-Year Wait For Denmark Open Women’s Doubles Title

Date:

Malaysia’s Pearly Tan-M Thinaah ended the country’s 18-year wait for the Denmark Open women’s doubles title after defeating Japan’s Hinata Suzuki-Nao Yamakita in the final on Sunday.

The world number five pair delivered a commanding performance at the SJ Bank Arena in Odense, winning 21-18, 21-11 in straight games in just 36 minutes.

The victory marked Malaysia’s first Denmark Open women’s doubles crown since Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty lifted the title in 2008.

It was also Pearly Tan and Thinaah’s second title of the year, following their triumph at the Indonesia Masters earlier this year.

Malaysia could add another title at the Denmark Open through its top men’s doubles pair, Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, who are set to face Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian-Muhammad Shohibul Fikri in the final.
