Tourist Hides In Mountain Bushes After Guard Allegedly Tries To Sexually Assault Her At Sabah Resort

Date:

A 25-year-old Chinese tourist was forced to hide in bushes on a mountain overnight after allegedly escaping a sexual assault attempt by a resort security guard in Sabah, Malaysia.

The woman, identified by HK01 as Huang, was travelling alone in Malaysia when the incident occurred in the early hours of Sept 19. She reportedly remained hidden until the following morning, when resort staff eventually found her.

According to HK01, the alleged perpetrator was an 18-year-old security guard working at the resort where Huang was staying. He was subsequently arrested by local police.

The man allegedly entered Huang’s room while she was sleeping. She reportedly woke up to find him grabbing her hand and attempting to remove her clothes.

Huang fought back, leading to a struggle between the two. She eventually managed to trick the man into going to the bathroom to take a shower in an attempt to escape.

However, as she fled, the guard allegedly pulled her by the hair and tried to force her to the ground.

Huang eventually escaped into bushes on a nearby mountain, where she hid throughout the night. China Press reported that she was bitten by ants and mosquitoes while hiding in the area.

Resort staff only discovered her the following morning. The guard reportedly did not pursue her because he was concerned about being captured on the resort’s surveillance cameras.

Photographs published by HK01 showed Huang had sustained multiple wounds during the ordeal.

Following the incident, Huang alleged that the resort contacted her but did not offer a compensation plan. Instead, she was reportedly given a small amount to cover medical expenses and three nights of accommodation at another hotel.

Huang has since engaged a lawyer to help resolve the matter.

She also said local police were investigating the guard and had discovered that he was a foreign national who had allegedly entered Malaysia illegally and was staying in the country without valid documents, HK01 reported.

Police said action would be taken against employers who hired illegal immigrants or individuals without valid work permits.

In an update on Oct 15, Huang said the man had been sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for trespassing. However, the investigation into the alleged sexual assault was still ongoing, according to HK01.
