Young Kelantan Brothers’ Daily Salute Leaves PDRM Officer Moved

Date:

The simple yet heartfelt actions of two young brothers in Kelantan have touched the heart of a Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) officer after they were repeatedly seen giving him a respectful salute.

For the past three months, Corporal Wan Mohd Faizal Wan Azman from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) of the Kelantan Police Contingent Headquarters had noticed the boys waiting by the roadside in Kampung Meranti whenever they heard the sound of his escort motorcycle approaching.

The moment came to a head last Sunday (Dec 28), when the brothers were spotted standing in the drizzle, saluting him as he passed by. Deeply moved, the 40-year-old officer decided to stop and greet them for the first time.

“Usually they come out between 5 and 6pm, and every time I pass by, they stand and salute. I had noticed them for a long time but never stopped due to safety concerns and standard procedures,” he told Sinar Harian.

Wan Mohd Faizal said the boys appeared to recognise the distinctive sound of his PDRM-issued Honda ST1300 motorcycle, which he uses when escorting the official vehicle of Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud.

After escorting the Menteri Besar back to his residence in the same village that day, his schedule was lighter than usual, allowing him the opportunity to stop and interact with the children.

“Even in the drizzle, the two brothers waited and saluted. I was deeply touched by their dedication, so I decided to stop for a moment and greet them,” he said.
