American actress Hayden Panettiere, best known for her roles in Heroes and Nashville, has died at the age of 36. Her representative confirmed her death, while her father, Skip Panettiere, described her as an incredible light who brought joy to millions of fans.
The circumstances surrounding her death have not been disclosed. Her family has asked for privacy as they come to terms with the loss.
Panettiere began her acting career as a child, landing her first soap opera role at just four years old. She rose to international fame as cheerleader Claire Bennet in Heroes, which ran from 2006 to 2010.
She later starred as country singer Juliette Barnes in Nashville, while her film credits included Remember the Titans, Raising Helen, Scream and I Love You, Beth Cooper.
Earlier this year, Panettiere released her memoir This Is Me: A Reckoning, reflecting on her experiences growing up in the entertainment industry and her struggles and recovery.
She is survived by her daughter, Kaya, whom she shares with former partner and Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko.
